Victorian Public Sector Veterans Employment Strategy

In recognition of the skills, experience and value veterans bring to the workplace, the Victorian Government has set a target of employing 250 veterans in the Victorian public sector.  Online materials are available on the Victorian Government veterans website to support veterans to find employment opportunities in the Victorian public sector.  These include resources for both veterans and employers to help translate Australian Defence Force experience and terminology for the Victorian Government as well as an online Transitioning to Victoria guide that provides information on state-based programs and services available for ADF personnel living in Victoria.  The Victorian Government has appointed Major General David McLachlan (Rtd) as Veteran Employment Advocate to promote the  value skilled veterans can bring to the public sector  and encourage employment opportunities for veterans.   Veterans are asked to self-identify as a veteran when applying for jobs in the Victorian public sector to enable the Victorian Government to monitor applications and address any barriers veterans may experience.
