What is the cost of attending the workshop?

The Veterans Employment Workshop is free for any veteran wishing to find employment within the NSW public sector.  If you successfully find a NSW public sector role you will be asked to share some quotes and possibly mentor future workshop participants.

How long is the workshop?

It’s a two-day workshop from 0830 to 1500. Due to COVID-19 the workshops are held digitally. Participants will need a computer with internet access. Once restrictions are relaxed we intend to hold face-to-face workshops at the Anzac Memorial in Sydney.

What qualifications do I gain by completing the workshop?

You will have a better understanding of the NSW public sector application process. You will not be awarded any formal qualification.

What are the prerequisites?

It is an advantage to have completed the ADF Job Search Preparation Workshop and have an up to date resume (resume writing skills are not taught in the workshop).

Will I have to complete pre and post course work?

A small amount of pre-course reading will be emailed to you the week before the workshop. You will also be emailed a short 5-minute questionnaire pre and post the workshop. You will be invited to keep us updated on your employment journey and we will contact you three and six months after the workshop to discus about your progress.

I would like to apply for a certain position; can the workshop help me with this?

Yes, please let us know the type of position(s) you are looking for at registration. The workshop takes you through addressing the Capability Framework for any position. We do use a couple of example positions to address the Framework during the workshop. We will not write your application for you!

How much course participation is required?

This is an interactive workshop, with different methods of participation. You will be asked to give the group a brief 2 minute introduction about yourself. There is also some role playing, and group questions and discussions.

What digital platform do I need to participate?

The workshop is conducted by Zoom. All downloadable instructions and calendar invites will be sent prior to the workshop.

How do I register my interest?

Complete our online registration form with your details. A member of the Veterans Employment team will contact you within 2 business days to confirm your place. You are welcome to contact VEP anytime should questions or concerns arise.
